Kyle and I arrived at Yamasho on an unseasonably warm October evening and as soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted by both a friendly hostess and the smell of delicious food being prepared. Since we were there for the complete Yamasho experience we were seated at a hibachi table. There were other patrons sitting at booths and others sitting at the sushi bar. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar, perhaps while enjoying a cocktail before dinner or during happy hour, because these chefs are truly artist! It is so enjoyable to watch them masterfully create their scrumptious works of art!

The house salad was prepared with freshly made ginger dressing, which is just the perfect amount of sweet and tangy.

We decided to start our meal with an appetizer and an order from the sushi bar. We decided on the sexy jalapeno appetizer, assembled to look like a flower, boasted jalapeno halves with spicy tuna and cream cheese, lightly deep fried with sweet chili sauce and banko sauce. The spiciness of the pepper was perfect complete to the creaminess of the cream cheese and tuna.  We also ordered a Yamasho sushi special roll, a truly unique roll exclusive to Yamasho. The dish was called the Pink Lady Roll, a masterful creation of spicy tuna, cucumber inside of the rice and topped with lemon, masago, and scallion. Be sure to leave the thinly sliced lemon on the roll for an out of this world flavor combination.  This dish was also a gorgeous as it was delicious. For our entrees I ordered the Filet Mignon Combo with scallops and Kyle ordered the Lobster Combo with a lobster tail and steak. Both entrees came with fried rice and a shrimp appetizer. After we had ordered our entrees our server quickly brought our first course, a cup of warm and flavorful soup. Our next course was a house salad with freshly made ginger dressing which is just the perfect amount of sweet and tangy. While we were enjoying our first two courses our talented chef was busy creating our entrees while making onion volcanos, bating hearts of fried rice, squirting sake, and tossing zucchini. The entire performance was entertaining and interactive- even if I couldn’t manage to change the zucchini in my mouth! Everything on our heaping plates was extremely high quality, super flavorful and cooked to perfection. The meal is also served with a two dipping sauce that compliments all of the flavors of the meal. We enjoyed every bite of our meals at Yamasho and we also enjoyed it again as lunch the following day thanks to the gigantic portions!  Although we were full, and had enough for lunch the next day, we simply could not pass up an order of fried ice cream for dessert. The warm cake-like batter perfectly complements the cold green tea ice cream center and no trip to Yamasho is complete without fried ice cream.

One of many incredible creations that not only look beautiful, but taste wonderful!
