2015: Trend Forecast

The New Year is here and it is all about revamping yourself and feeling your very best for 2015. So let’s all band together and make it one of our New Year’s resolutions to try something new, mix things up and have the most stylish year yet. To help provide some inspiration, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite 2015 trends that I just cannot wait to try out.

Color: Pantone released 2015’s color of the year and it is one I have had my eye on for the past couple of months: marsala. This cool wine hue can be incorporated into your wardrobe in some very simple ways. I’ve been wearing a version of the marsala color on my nails lately with Essie’s Raisinnuts. I also love to wear it on my lips with Always Apricot by L’Oreal. As the season progresses and we get closer to springtime, I know that this sophisticated, sultry color will be popping up in each and every store.

Style: Your army green cargo jacket and combat boots need not be put into the back of your closet this year. This tough, functional and very comfortable utilitarian style is still on trend. Michael Kors and Valentino take the army jacket to the next level with embellishments and ladylike cuts. Add a cute knit beanie, a cozy flannel shirt and some ripped jeans and you will be good to go. Girl-Black-Stripe-Shirt-JW

Pattern: Black and white stripes are the perfect way to amp up your French girl style game. You can pair them with any color, your favorite pair of jeans or a cute circle skirt. This pattern is simple and versatile you really cannot go wrong with a black and white striped top or even a mod little striped dress. There is really no easier way to look pulled together and simply chic.

Coat: The sheer, fringed kimono was all the rage this past summer. While this style does not work quite so well when the snow is falling, the kimono trench coat is taking over in the colder months. Cinch your waist in by tying the belt of a slouchy kimono-style coat over your ultra-sleek outfits for some contrast and real warmth.

Hair: Spend more time sipping your coffee in the morning and catching up on your favorite blogs and less time worrying about perfecting your hair. This year is all about a carefree texture no matter what length your hair is. Whether you have a posh pixie cut or glamorously long locks, let your naturally beautiful texture show. Add a little volumizing mousse and some texturing spray and you are good to go!

Smokey-Eye1-JWMakeup: If you are looking for a way to play up your eyes, the inky black liner look is all the rage. Try a cool graphic cat eye with some black liquid liner. I swear by Maybelline Line Stiletto to get the most precise and intense look. You can get a smokier look by smudging a creamy liner like Rimmel Scandal Eyes under your lash line.

This year is looking to be full of cool, laidback trends. With carefree hair styles, smoky eye makeup and a chill utilitarian style, the 90s style throwback from 2014 is still going full throttle, but with some amazing updates with Pantone’s marsala tone. Incorporate some graphic stripes and a kimono overcoat to freshen up your look.

Take the chance this year to try something you never thought you could pull off. You’ll be surprised how exciting it can be!
