SUMMARY:Woody Pines
DESCRIPTION:No stranger to fans of the new folk music coming from all corne
rs of the USA. Alongside artists like Old Crow Medicine Show and Pokey LaF
arge\, Woody Pines continues to forage thru the secret world of old 78ʹ
′s and to write new chapters in the Anthology of American Music. Integra
ting sounds from Leadbelly to Bob Dylan\, from Woodie Guthrie to Preservat
ion Hall\, Woody Pines belts out songs of fast cars\, pretty women and har
d luck with a distinctive vintage twang.\n\nWoody was a founding member of
the Kitchen Syncopators\, a legendary busking street jug-band from Eugene
\, OR\, that were one of the most exciting acts to emerge out of the West
Coast folk scene in recent history.\n\nSince the Kitchen Syncopators disba
nded years ago\, Woody Pines has been writing and recording albums and per
forming for audiences everywhere\, while co-founder of the band\, Gill Lan
dry\, has gone on to join Old Crow Medicine Show.\n\nThe distinctive viper
sound is brought together with Skip Frontz Jr. on the upright bass\, addi
ng both the booty shakin’\, low-end and rapid fire percussion with his s
ought after slap technique that has blown people away night after night. B
rad Tucker on the vintage electric guitar and vocal harmonies fills out th
e trio\, working his magic to make the band sound bigger then they are. Wo
ody plays the National Guitar\, Harmonica and Floor Tom\, Singing in a voi
ce sounding uncannily like a young Willie Nelson.\n\nWe're so glad they're
coming back to the Odeon - their last show was one hell of a good time!\n
