Sun, sand, ice cold drinks and great food is not only the perfect combination for a fantastic summer day but it happens to be exactly what you will find at Harpoon Eddie’s! Whether you spent the day on the boat, sunbathing at Sylvan Beach, or you just feel like taking a ride along beautiful Oneida Lake on wheels, you just can’t beat a stop at Harpoon Eddie’s. Harpoon Eddie’s is centrally located right on the beach at 901 Main Street in Sylvan Beach. They are open daily, Monday through Friday from 4pm and at noon on Saturday and Sunday. Be sure to remember that if you’re not on a boat there is no better place to be than Harpoon Eddie’s!
The saying “life is a beach” is certainly true at Harpoon Eddie’s! For almost 40 years Harpoon Eddies has been the home of great food, ice cold drinks, and the best view of the sunset on Sylvan Beach! One of my favorite things about Harpoon Eddie’s is that they have live music EVERY DAY! How cool is that? They also have a menu that is just perfect for the atmosphere. Grab an app of the First Wave, a Beach Burger, a Poon Pizza, or even a Sylvan Beach Sweet! If you prefer your calories in liquid form, oh boy does Harpoon Eddie’s have you covered! Their drink menu, from the Liquid Kitchen, has a mix of beer, wine, liquors, and frozen concoctions that are sure to put a smile on any beach bums face!
A trip to Harpoon Eddie’s always makes you feel like you are on a vacation! There is just nothing better than enjoying a great meal, and an ice cold drink, while watching the waves crash on the beach and the seagulls calling out to each other. And there is just no better place to find these things than Harpoon Eddie’s!
The family and I arrived at Harpoon Eddie’s on a warm Monday evening. We were happy to see that the little town of Sylvan Beach seems to be abuzz, especially on a Monday evening. We were immediately greeted by the friendly hostess and seated at a cozy table inside with a great view of the beach! Although we usually look forward to sitting on the large deck, inside was the right choice that evening due to uncertain weather. Our view was still just as lovely in the perfectly air conditioned dining room and we loved that we could still enjoy the live acoustic music. Once we settled in, we discussed how at Harpoon Eddie’s it is easy to get lost in that daydream and pretend you are on vacation, if even for an hour or so! As we glanced at the extensive menu we were greeted by our friendly server Emily, who did an absolutely stellar job taking care of us all night long! She was super kind, attentive and very helpful – she even shared her favorite menu item with us – according to Emily, the Turkey Roma Panini is the best sandwich around! We decided to start our meal with some appetizers – or First Wave as they are called on the beachy themed menu – the unique and perfectly spicy Wendy’s Jacked Up Calamari (a generous portion of calamari, banana peppers, lemon, Kalamata olives, celery, pickled onions, and served with marinara) – if you like calamari slightly spicy and interesting texture mixing this dish it for you!
Kyle and I both loved it and will definitely order it next time as well! We also ordered an all-time crowd pleaser, the Shareable Platter, with mozzarella sticks, golden chicken tenders, lager battered onion rings, cheddar & broccoli bites and jalapeño poppers. This app was a great mix of deep fried perfection and was definitely a crowd pleaser, especially with the toddlers! For an entree Kyle decided on the Fish and Chips. This hand battered haddock filet was delicious and of course complemented by golden crispy fries! Maggie love the fries and Kyle liked the fish so much he didn’t even offer me a bite! I decided on the Prime Rib Sandwich – a huge piece of prime rib served open face on a toasted roll with butter and garlic and perfectly paired with their signature (and absolutely scrumptious) garlic parm fries. I would recommend this dish to any steak loving carnivore! Both entrees were cooked to perfection and were only made more enjoyable by the view. After dinner we sat and enjoyed watching the sun dance on the lake and the seagulls fly. We even saw someone riding their horse in the lake along the beach! Overall it was a great meal with an even better view. Although we could have sat there all night and watched the sunset we had to get the kids back home so we took one last good look at the beach and a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie to go! I just have to admit, this was one of the best Monday’s we’d had in a while!
