If you’re looking for a great event this summer, I would encourage you to attend the annual St Patrick’s Irish Fest and Street Fair at 216 N. Lowell Ave, in the heart of Tipp Hill. Festivities kick off Friday, July 18 (5-11 pm) and continue Saturday, July 19 (1 pm-11 pm). We will kick off Saturday’s fun with our annual Irish Sweepstakes event, including VIP party for everyone who purchased a sweepstakes ticket, winners drawings and additional 50/50 raffles and lottery boards.
This year marks our 32nd year so I’d say we’ve gotten pretty darn good at it! It really brings out our community and each year we have friends and relatives making the pilgrimage back to Tipperary Hill. It truly is a fellowship in the making, and it raises funds for the parish, as well as to help St. Patrick’s/St Brigid’s support the Leprechaun League and CYO basketball programs [still played right in the old St. Pat’s gym], and the parish Food Pantry.
This year is uniquely special; our Heritage Award, given each year to parishioners that have made a difference in the lives of our parish community, will be presented to Maribeth Elia, Jim Satalin and in memory of Kathy Satalin. We honor the winners, at our 4pm mass at St. Patrick’s/St Brigid’s during festival weekend. Maribeth, Coach Satalin and Kathy were selected specifically for their work with youth and young adults. Maribeth taught religious education as well as life lessons to many of our children and of course Jim and Kathy provided leadership, support and mentorship to our young, and old alike. Maribeth and Kathy have also been tireless volunteers with the Food Pantry. Congratulations to them all!
We like to think our parish festival has a little something for everyone, this includes live music throughout the day and night. To highlight a few, come check out the Mere Mortals, John Gooley and friends and of course local Irish legends The Flyin’ Column. Join us on the dance floor and kick up your heels or sit back and enjoy our local Irish Dancing schools. We have shows both Friday and Saturday evenings for your entertainment, from the tiniest of toddlers, the cutest, to the very talented teens!
We have local vendors and crafters; please stop by and support them. We have Games of Chance, both evenings [18 and older to gamble] Give them a spin and see if you have the luck of the Irish! We also have games and activities for kids throughout. We have 50/50 raffles and a $5 raffle ticket [4 prize winners this year]
Food Vendors: Our friends from Coleman’s, XO Taco and Gannon’s Ice Cream will be returning and this year the Bishop Ludden boosters will join, serving Pies Guys Pizza and plenty of options for nourishment.
And speaking of nourishment, if you wanna wet your whistle, you can stop and say hello to the crew from the Tipperary Hill Athletic Club. They’ll be pouring many of your favorite drafts, including some new ones. We feature several domestic beers on tap, hard cider and lemonade/iced tea varieties, as well as red and white wine and of course our beloved Guinness. Quick shout out to the THAC, many who are parishioners. They do a great job volunteering and donate their tips back into the community!
This annual festival would not be possible without tireless work from our planning committee and many volunteers! We are so grateful to them for their continued support and dedication.
We love our parish, neighborhood and community and would love to share it with friends, old and new!
So if you want to have a good time for you and your family, support our community, create a memory; join us at this year’s St. Patrick’s Irish Fest and Street Fair. You don’t have to be Irish and you don’t have to be a parishioner but when you leave, you’ll know you’re part of our family!
