3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Event Type

thereThis beautiful world is shaped by four elemental forces—earth, wind, fire, and water—each powerful, transformative, and essential. The Syracuse Vocal Ensemble invites you to experience their evocative program, “Braving the Elements,” a musical journey that explores these forces both literally and metaphorically through masterworks spanning the Renaissance to the present day.
Earth resounds in Frank Ticheli’s Earth Song, grounding us in strength and renewal. Water shimmers in Samuel Barber’s lyrical To Be Sung on the Water. The vitality of wind comes alive in Claudio Monteverdi’s Zefiro Torna and in Viento Norte by Carlos Guastavino. Fire blazes in Katerina Gimon’s electrifying choral setting, igniting the program with rhythmic intensity and bold color.
Performances will take place:
• Saturday, March 13 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Baldwinsville
• Sunday, March 14 at 3:30 PM at May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society
Tickets are $15 for adults; admission is free for those under 18. We gladly accept cash, check, Venmo, and PayPal at the door.
This project is made possible through the Tier Three Project Support program, a regrant initiative of the County of Onondaga, with the support of the County Executive and administered by CNY Arts.
Join us as we brave the elements—and discover their power through song.
