America’s last hope. “The nine people that failed humanity.”
The Supreme Court has evolved into an institution riddled with inherent indecency and injustice. These failures are cloaked in words like supreme, honesty, integrity, values, principles and so on. They were meant to exemplify this elite branch of Government. When it seemed to work, I thought this court was an ingenious design. Nine people representing one third of the Government. A small number that could correct the inadequacies of the other branches. An enormous bequeathing of power. A branch derived from the honor and integrity bestowed to our best within the judicial system. The branch charged with the laws that incarcerate or execute our wayward citizens. There was no room for corruption. Yet, these nine people have become the clearest example representing the bribed partisan corruption that has permeated America. The failures of this corrupted body have protected the processes that may lead to complete societal ruin.
Their partisan decisions on campaign finance law bequeathing personhood to corporations are American poison. Their decisions gave wealth the avenues via PACS etc. for a handful of people to successfully influence their own candidates and successfully cause their electoral success. Individuals and corporations donate millions. Wealth that has the influence over this court are concerned with profits only. It was up to this court to protect the environment and the people from the few that would harm our land and instead the court became part and parcel of their destructive desires.
The conservative Supreme Court’s soft spot for white-collar defendants is part of a larger phenomenon: its deep and abiding sympathy for the rich. A study of their decisions makes clear their “anti-Americans” stance massively favoring wealth over the people. Their un-American views are indeed nauseating and far from in keeping with Constitutional intent. They gravely violate their purpose for being.
The Courts decisions on the regulation of climate change matters are partisan folly more befitting of greedy corporate board rooms than the Supreme Court of the United States. Their malfeasance is extreme. This decision curbing the EPA is environmentally devastating, typical of many more that please the rich and greedy…and impair and may well destroy your futures:
“The Supreme Court curbed EPA’s power to regulate carbon emissions from power plants which are a major contributor to climate change.” Regard for the well-being of our land and our people completely dismissed.
Because there are only nine, the way and degree of corruption is easy to see and understand. Greed permeates American governance. This branch was endowed with the responsibility of maintaining the highest degree of integrity to protect against the weaknesses of the other branches. They have failed miserably. Their loss of their integrity is the final loss of pathway to all that is good.
America was the great hope for all mankind for many years. Both major parties sought integrity. We pursued “Real Equality” and set laws and regulation geared not only toward the well-being of all Americans, but we set the standard respected worldwide in the pursuit of human fairness.
It is beyond pity that these nine alleged protectors of the people sold their souls to wealth so extreme. As far back as Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson and through Franklin Roosevelt, presidents have warned that if individuals get too much of the American bounty, power would be assumed and the quality of power would revert back to before our revolt from England.
This is underway rendering our founding documents mere words as greed decimates human fairness, need, and equality.
Wherever greed is a potential, human beings must have rules.
When greed is allowed the lowest human denominators are attracted and you wind up with the likes of Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, both of whom believe the Big Lie. Thomas and his wife Ginny are Trump lovers and immoral benefactors of wealth to a wild and abnormal degree. Alito actually flew his American flag at home upside down, a signal of support for election deniers. The election was upheld in 90 courts. These two don’t even respect the quality and decisions of their own profession. Worse yet they have no respect for the rule of law or for the quality of process in our land, yet they are on our highest court. The other seven are not much better. Even with their clear pre-ordained partiality, Alitio and Thomas refuse to recuse themselves from forthcoming “Big Lie” cases and the others are just fine with that. The nine are nauseating. They have no rules and they protect evil from within.
This Court must be brought under control. The court is not democratic. The only way to limit the damage they do is to reduce their power and budget and cause accountability. The problem is those that would be charged with this effort are also corrupt. The daily operation of the American government is basically a sham. Those that you think govern you are merely a proxy. What wealth wants wealth gets. Meaningful opposition is easily bypassed. Only a fool would say it is right for a corporation to be given the rights of personhood. Or allow unlimited campaign contributions by individuals of corporations. One billionaire can and does alter elections. One average American has been reduced to a grain of sand on a beach. A billionaire or corporation is often the whole beach. “All Men are Created Equal” has been rendered a memory.
Campaign Finance rulings have allowed wealth to finish their complete take-over of all fairness in selecting leaders and paved the road for their candidates to nearly always win. This has been cemented even further by gerrymandering which determines who wins, rendering elections worthless. We are in a lot of trouble and no meaningful leaders are on the scene. Get money out of politics. Create a system that draws our best instead of our worst. Out best will not join a disgusting idiot leader nor will they succumb to a cult like climate to save themselves. Our best is made up of heroes. I hope we find them in time.
