The August heat can seem unbearable at times, but it’s also the light at the end of the tunnel. Fall will be here soon. You may find yourself sweating as you get ready in the morning or maybe you get to work and your makeup is already half way down your face.
The high temps can make you feel like you’re melting. So what’s the point of even wearing makeup this month? Well, you definitely don’t have to. But in case you can’t seem to shake your beauty addiction, there are a few tricks to keeping your makeup looking fresh and melt-free.
Pick products that do it all.
Do you tend to apply a moisturizer, then sun screen, then foundation, then a powder? That’s too much for a crazy hot day. It feels like your face is wearing a sweater. Instead, pick a tinted moisturizer with added SPF. It feels light weight, gives you some coverage, and protects your skin from UV rays. Plus, you can usually get away without powdering your face because it won’t be cake-y. Now you only have one face product to worry about.
Avoid panda eye at all costs.
Personally I find that if my face is sweating, my mascara tends to transfer from my lower lashes to my skin. It’s a pain because then I look like I have dark circles and I’m sweaty. It’s not very attractive. To avoid the dark mascara circles I stick to a waterproof mascara. It won’t transfer and I can jump in the pool with it on and not even think twice.
Keep a face mist with you.
On sweltering days, I get to work after my commute feeling completely gross and sticky. I feel like I need to hop in the shower. Since that’s not an option I keep a rose water spray at my desk. I spritz it all over my face when I get to work and let it dry. Not only does it smell delicious I feel like my face got a quick rinse without actually washing my makeup off. When the water dries I feel as good as new.
Keep the rest of your products minimal.
Contouring and strobing and all of those other techniques are fun but not when you’re spending the day wishing you could wash your makeup off and bask in the AC. Instead of laying the powders on, try going for a universal product that gives your face dimension without all the effort. A shimmery bronzer is perfect for your cheeks because it gives you the shimmer of a highlighter, the warmth of a blush, and the glow of a bronzer.
