I’ve been fielding a lot of beauty questions from family and friends lately, so here are my top 10 beauty rules to live by.
When it comes to looking and feeling your best, a breakout can really put a damper on things. Foundations and other face products can be great, but sometimes you really just need to give your skin some TLC and pamper it with a mask and some moisturizer to keep it clear and happy.
I’m a big believer in marching to the beat of your own beauty drum. If you want to cut all of your hair off and dye it pink, go for it. If you love a bright orange lip or a strong contour, rock it. Do what makes you happy.
Do you really need anything else to look alive? Not really. Find your perfect mascara and in a pinch, that’s really all you need.
I have my fair share of luxury beauty products, yet I still find myself wearing my drugstore liquid liner every single day. Sometimes when something works, the price doesn’t always reflect it’s true value. Prestige brands make some great stuff, but don’t overlook the budget-friendly products.
My friends like to tell me they have to shower every single day in order to keep their hair from getting oily, but little do they know that showering is what makes their hair produce more oil. Stripping the hair too often causes an over-production of oils that leads to greasy hair. So space out your washes and invest in some dry shampoo.
Your eyes are the most sensitive part of your face and the skin around them can get really irritated if you don’t take care of it. By slathering on some eye cream before bed, you’ll wake up feeling like a new person.
Have you ever had a roommate who sprays way too much perfume and leaves you gagging? Me too. Please, use your fragrance sparingly. We can smell you from over here.
I try to incorporate a moisturizer with SPF into my everyday makeup routine to keep myself protected even during the little time I end up spending in the sun each day. After all the terrifying statistics I’ve read about sun damage, I can’t go without it.
Whenever I see my skin is a little dull and in need of a boost, I know a drink of water will help me out. Just like you need to keep your skin moisturized, your whole body needs hydration to keep you looking your best.
I’ll let you in on a secret – this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Not only are you ruining your nails and your cuticles, you are sticking the germiest part of your body into your mouth. Your manicure will look terrible AND you’ll probably get sick. It’s a lose-lose situation.
