Rudy’s Lakeside

What’s your favorite summer memory?

Swimming? Summer camp? Long, lazy days? Maybe the beach, or a colorful sunset, or chasing fireflies on a warm night?

For most people in this part of the world, summer will include a trip to one of our beautiful nearby lakes, relaxing time with friends and family, and because we’re famous for enjoying it – a fish dinner!

And there aren’t many places that can boast the reputation that Rudy’s Lakeside in Oswego has for offering you all of that, and more.

Checking out their website, you can’t help but be struck by a description like this: “A spicy meat sauce that can be put on anything, and usually is…! Any item topped “HOT” will automatically include Raw Onions, Mustard and the Sauce. All “HOT” orders can be made WITHOUT ANY one ingredient, i.e. “Sauce Only,” “Hot N/O,” etc. To designate an item “HOT” a “H” is added to the food items code, for example “FH”= Fish Hot, and “FFH(N/M)”= French Fry Hot, No Mustard. TEXAS HOT SAUCE is also available for sale in pint bottles.”

There’s something – SAUCY about that! “Yep, they tell us,“ our signature hot sauce is hot, and our food can be served with a ‘hot’ topping – and here is exactly what that means. And you can ask for it tuned YOUR taste.”

And as much as the beautiful view, and the chance to enjoy a lakeside afternoon or sunset view while you dine in the fresh air, Rudy’s is a summer destination spot for the simple reason that it’s just that GOOD.

It was 1946 when Rudy Gadziala and his wife, Marie, opened the restaurant. Rudy’s is now in its 77th summer and has remained a family business since it first opened its doors to hungry summer visitors – and first wowed them with its delicious foods, especially fish. The dine-in, take-out eatery passed to the current owner’s parents, Brad and Carol Livesey, and eventually to their son, Jason Livesey, continually offering a summer-friendly menu of Hoffman hots, burgers, soups, salads, and their dining highpoint: fish. Tender, flaky, cooked-just-right fish.

The restaurant offers cozy inside dining, or expansive lakeside tables where you can bring the family or host an event, know that the food will be great and the service fast and friendly. What can be simpler than placing your order at the counter or online, and then getting notification that your order is ready for pickup at the counter or the drive through. The rest is you and a great meal waiting for you to enjoy!

The family saying continues with each generation: they cook fish. But they’re the best fish cooks you know!
