March 17th is closer than you think and it’s time to start thinking about what you want to wear to all of those Saint Patrick’s Day parties you’ve been getting invited to on Facebook. Dressing all in green can get tacky pretty fast. Being an Irish girl myself, I’ve had to come up with creative ways to incorporate green into my St. Patty’s Day ensembles without looking like a total leprechaun (my red hair does not help). So I’ve complied a few ideas to get in the spirit without going overboard.
Green Knit Scarf: March in Central New York can be frigid. Don’t get caught in the cold without a scarf! By adding a chucky green scarf, your outfit will keep you in the color scheme of the holiday without screaming, “I’m trying too hard!”
Green Smokey Eye: Now, I’ve never been a huge supporter of colorful eye shadows, but when it comes to army green I make an exception. By blending a darker green into your crease and lining your waterline with a green pencil, you can create an unexpected and uniquely festive look. Add a black winged linger on top for some contrast.
Green Flannel: There is no reason you should not be cozy while you’re partying it up today. Grab your favorite oversized green flannel and layer it with a cute t-shirt or tie it around your waist as the party heats up.
Green Nail Polish: This is probably the easiest way to keep your look festive and in the appropriate color family. Pick whichever green polish is your favorite, mine is currently Essie’s Mojito Madness. It goes well with any outfit and can be worn anytime, not just March 17th.
Green Jeans: Colored jeans add excitement and style to any simple outfit. Trade your typical blue skinny jeans in for some army green denim. Heads will turn as your strut into your soiree because you seriously nailed the theme and looked stylish while doing so.
When in doubt, less is more, even when it comes to holiday themes. If you’re looking to hang out at your favorite Irish pub or eat some steak and potatoes with the family, try one of these stylish and wearable options for your Saint Patrick’s Day festivities.
