It’s the most wonderful time of the year to have a great meal at Santangelo’s! Although Central New York is known for our fantastic Italian cuisine, Santangelo’s really stands out from the rest. Yorkers! Santangelo’s Restaurant has been a true CNY favorite since 1986. I can only describe Santangelo’s in this way: The entrees are mouth watering, the desserts are decadent, and the service is impeccable. Santangelo’s is conveniently located at 673 Old Liverpool Road in Liverpool, a short 5 minute drive from downtown Syracuse and they accept reservations at 315-457-4447. They are open for lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 10 pm, Friday from 11:30 am to 11 pm, and dinner on Saturday from 4 pm to 11 pm and Sunday from 4 pm to 9 pm.
In the hustle and bustle of the season it’s important to take time to remember what the holidays are all about which includes spending time with loved ones and keeping up with traditions that make you smile. There is no better place in town to celebrate this holiday season than at Santangelo’s! It just doesn’t seem like the holidays without at least one trip to Santangelo’s to check out all the of beautiful Christmas decorations and the story book themed holiday windows! Kids just love checking out the windows that feature everything from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, to Charlie Brown, and even A Nightmare Before Christmas! Every year I write the article and owner Gullio reminds me that above all else I need to thank their fantastic staff, loyal customers, and the community for all of their support over the last three decades. To show their gratitude Santangelo’s likes to take this time of year to give back to the community. They would like to invite everyone to the Santangelo’s Annual Tree Lighting on December 6th starting at 7 pm. They kindly ask that everyone bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots and/or to buy a Christmas ball to help a local family in need. Donations of toys and the purchase of Christmas balls are being accepted at anytime throughout the month of December and all proceeds will go to help a local family!
Santangelo’s restaurant is the perfect place for lunch or dinner! At lunch, they offer smaller portions of their favorite menu items as well as sandwiches and burgers. They are the perfect spot for a midday lunch break! One of my favorite aspects about their dinner menu is that the dishes are named after and inspired by family members! Try the Amanda-Rin Orange Salad with mandarin oranges, strawberries, walnuts, craisins, fresh Mozzarella over field greens served with balsamic vinaigrette, Cosmo’s Sampler (Chicken Parmigiana, homemade Ravioli, and Cavatelli Alfredo), the Grilled Filet Alita (sliced filet served with a shiitake port wine sauce over garlic mashed potatoes), Chicken Ala Sally (Chicken sautéed with roasted peppers, artichoke hearts and spinach in a vermouth garlic sauce served over homemade linguini), or the Pork Chop Ala Andalo (Prime cut pork chop topped with Utica Greens and asiago cheese, served over garlic mashed potatoes). If the menu looks too good to make just one choice I would suggest the Italian Feast For Two with your choice of soup, Samuel’s Sampler, Antipasto, Chicken Parmigiano, Chicken Francaise, Filet Mignon, Cavatelli Alfredo, Ravioli, Baked Eggplant, and finished off with Coffee and Sam’s Cake!
Kyle and I arrived at Santangelo’s on a chilly November evening. We were happy to come in from the cold into the warm and inviting atmosphere that you can find all year long! We were seated in a cozy booth with a Nightmare Before Christmas themed window. We were greeted by our friendly server, Ari, who took great care of us throughout our time there. Santangelo’s is always a great place for a celebration. We began our meal with two appetizers: the special (and my favorite dish!) lightly breaded, super creamy goat cheese served with bruschetta and lightly toasted bread and the Samuel’s Sampler with hearty Clams Casino, golden Fried Mozzarella, Fried Calamari and generously Stuffed Mushrooms! As always, both dishes were superb, and the goat cheese is one of my all time favorite appetizers ever! For our entrees we always have a tough time making a choice but we know that no matter what we choose it will be amazing! I finally decided on the Seared Scallops Ala Colombo which is a fantastic dish of penne pasta loaded with sea scallops, mushrooms, peas, and tomatoes covered in a scrumptious vodka cream sauce. Every bite was amazing and I even had enough left over for lunch the next day (it was fantastic as leftovers). For Kyle’s entree he finally decided on the Shrimp Ala Fina, another gigantic portion of cavatelli piled high with shrimp and broccoli all topped with a seasoned cream sauce. Kyle loved this dish so much he ate every last bite! Although we were full from dinner we just could not pass up one of the delectable desserts that Santangelo’s has to offer. I went with my all time favorite, the lemon berry marscapone cake and Kyle delighted in a gigantic piece of homemade carrot cake. It was a sweet way to end another perfect meal at Santangelo’s!
