It’s finally summer and everyone knows being on the water on a sunny summer day just hits differently! Now is the perfect time to stare at the water, soak in that sunshine, and while you’re at it, enjoy some ice cold bevies and awesome food! 
If your asking “where can I make this happen?” there is only one answer – The Waterfront Tavern! There is just something special about The Waterfront. To start, it is absolutely the BEST place to watch the fireworks (on July 3rd this year). They also have daily specials (including my favorite soft pretzels with homemade cheese sauce.) The Waterfront has some amazing weekly specials that you won’t want to miss. Come by on Tuesday for their awesome deals on burgers and fries all day long! Wednesday is wing night where they offer half priced wings (which pair great with ice cold beer and sunshine!) If clams are your jam then you won’t want to miss Thursday’s little neck steamed clams special at just $9.99 a dozen! We went to the Waterfront on a brilliantly sunny May evening. We sat outside so we could enjoy the sunshine as well as the unbeatable view of the water that you just can’t find anywhere else. We glanced over the menu, took in the view, and the vitamin D, and even had the pleasure of watching some people coming off the water after what appeared to be a great day. Because we have two under two, we decided to start with Mozzarella Sticks, five mozzarella pieces deep fried and served with marinara sauce, perfect for dunking and satisfying two year olds and adults all the same! We also couldn’t pass up the opportunity to eat some scrumptious shrimp but we couldn’t make up our mind so we decided to try three! First was the sweet and delicious Coconut Shrimp, butterflied shrimp rolled in coconut, lightly fried and served with an absolutely delightful raspberry pepper sauce. Then we tried the Boom Boom Shrimp, which are lightly battered and fried tossed in their very own spicy boom boom sauce. These were the perfect amount of saucy and spicy! Lastly we tried the Buffalo Shrimp, lightly battered and fried tossed in mild sauce with blue cheese for dunking! We were split on our favorites – Magnolia just loved the Coconut Shrimp, Kyle said he could eat the boom boom shrimp every day and I am a total sucker for anything buffalo! Next time we will be trying the Cajun Shrimp, with New Orleans seasoned shrimp sautéed in Cajun butter sauce with garlic toast. For our meals I decided on the ½ pound of broiled Sea Scallops served with fries and a fresh side salad. If there is anything better than eating seafood and watching life go by down the river, let’s just say I haven’t found it yet! Kyle was torn between the seafood platter and the NY Strip. Ultimately he decided on the 12 oz. New York Strip Steak that was grilled to perfection and paired perfectly with BBQ beans and salt potatoes! We could have sat there on the tikki deck all night but it was approaching sundown and bedtime so we went home full and happy!
