The Price of a Failed Press
Of all our Constitutional protections, it is Free Press that should be the most sacred. Free Press stands alone as the single agent of change that has the power to restore our course. The problem is just about everyone understands this except them.
The mercilessly insensitive demands of the corporate environment have removed the needed value system that protected their purpose and their honor. Where does one begin? There is no sense whatever of priority, inappropriate distortion, reckless delivery of poorly sourced information, focus, and direction. There is an absolute misunderstanding of their mission to influence matters that endanger America and mankind itself. The quality and the values urgent to a successful America have been siphoned from their enormous power.
Algorithms designed around propaganda and greed, and greed apart from algorithms, play the major rolls in how news is prioritized and delivered. Corporations study algorithms and target news, altered and falsified, in keeping with bringing readers to thinking that suits their agenda. This is propaganda. Ratings that dismiss priority also design news. This is pure greed. Media misdirection is massive with “priority” standards among their most gleaming faults. Few things disgust me more than when I hear a barrage of media blame toward Trump for refocusing the news from critical matters with more trivial activity. Then they magnify the essence of minor stories thus diluting the value of intense reporting on more urgent matters. Remember when “Breaking News” meant something?
I have an idea. Don’t refocus. I cringe when an anchor blames a tweet for bumping a serious issue from a headline. They can simply opt to choose what is truly important. News should not be selected via a corporate profit sensitive algorithm that has no guide for right or wrong or good or bad. These people have allowed the ruin of America by sacrificing the influential integrity necessary to inform in ways that deliver information prioritized to serve the people and the Constitution. They failed their purpose and in this highly neglected and evolved nuclear, environmental and economic (all fraught with massive difficulty) era it may well be too late.
The ultimate and decisive Media failure was “to not” identify, prioritize, headline and define the single horror that reduced us to today. If asked few would know that this is the Mustard Seed. That our entire peril is rooted in this. Public well-being has been sucked away from issue to issue, from stem to stern by this despicable and glaring human weakness. This pure evil that sucks the quality and compassion out of humans is Campaign Finance designed around Favor for Favor. Our entire digression on every front followed the money to the top. Please note that in the following it is Media, Government and Corporate favor for favor that corrupted all the details of these systems. The media alone had the ability to expose and steady the course. They did not.
Simply writing things that define such horror seems so feeble. Yet here they are: To name a few, they have failed Nuclear and Chemical weapons, truths and dangers, Environmental decimation, truths and dangers, species decimation, truths and dangers, Climate change, truth and dangers, Off shore accounts and tax havens of the Fortune 400 who own more than two thirds of America, truths and dangers, American opportunity and income decimation to date, truths and dangers, the near future human cost of job killing robotic technology, truths and dangers (that may well be the final nail in the coffin of domestic tranquility) and basically truth and appropriate focus and consistency on everything that really matters. All of these are in an eminent disaster phase. None would be if Favor for Favor was not the guide.
And accordingly nothing else but correcting favor for favor “Quid Pro Quo” will fix our problems. Right and wrong as seen by the patriotism of the finest that we can be would restore our beacon as humanities greatest hope. But too few are on this. The media is useless. It far more likely that rather than adopt wisdom, that in the near future one or more of the listed disasters will peak and explode.
The nearness between any of these becoming todays reality is disguised in Mans inability to comprehend severe danger that is on his doorstep. The distance between words and real near danger happening is nearly closed. Facts, realities and probability are grave. We live along-aside many dangerous precipices. We pay little attention to lurking major disaster. We wake up on the day of our Pearl Harbors and 9-11’s. Far too late. Without the media we are dozing in lackadaisical false reality. In the meantime Soap Opera news wins every time. Even as Kim Jong-un is testing for a massive nuclear future and firing missiles into the Sea of Japan and learning how to be Chinas nuclear and chemical proxy warmonger (which is why China allows their pursuits) the Celebrity Apprentice gets more coverage. China is designing strategies to win a Nuclear War. Research. They study this and prepare. It is not unthinkable to them. Their value system is not like ours.
Quid pro quo, favor for favor induced corporate manipulation in keeping with Political agenda stands at the forefront of all that is wrong. Everyone should know what this is and the cost. It is the epicenter, the very heartbeat that poisons human course. This past election is so clear an example. Like Trump or not he was delivered by the media. Minutes on TV cost millions for a reason. Simply because Trump was good for ratings we were saturated with all things Trump. Follow the money. (ratings) Even if means altering an election. Today as the media relentlessly chases around Russians, and Obama spying, (neither of which is based on fact) the vital issues I mentioned are sidelined. Maybe they should look in the mirror where fact and truth and the worst blame for our woes can be found. It is to them to know what danger and propaganda is, to raise alternatives in view of such evil spectre, to inform with truth in keeping with action needed to fix our land. And they fail and fail. They do not even try. And they are our only hope as only respected truth that causes right deed will be respected by our people.
Greed did all of this. Greed caused Quid Pro Quo. Greed fertilized the poisonous thinking of our leaders. They took money and sold regulation without regard for land, sea, air or quality of life: The result: America’s 20 wealthiest people – a group that could fit comfortably in one single Gulfstream G650 luxury jet – now own more wealth than the bottom half of the American population combined, a total of 152 million people. The 100 richest households own more assets than the entire African-American community. With a combined worth of $2.34 trillion, the Forbes 400 own more wealth than the bottom 61 percent of the country combined, a staggering 194 million people. Yes, 400 people own two thirds of America. They are not the despicable. It is the Government that sold them their souls and the media that watched, yes those two entities responsible to us, failed us on front after front. For money. Today, wealthy individuals are moving quickly to shift even more wealth into offshore tax havens and bury it in private trusts, avoiding accountability and taxation every step of the way. This hidden wealth now totals in the trillions. Our first step must be to close these escape routes and tax dodges.
What a media and American sin that a man and women slave hourly, blood and sweat, for minimum wage to support a family, and these 400 people, with estates all over the world hide the bounty of that sweat and blood to avoid any enrichment of that man and women. And the depth of meaning and cause of this will get no further than this column. Our course is pretty much ordained as is the result of an avalanche when it is underway. These fools that do not recognize what caused the Trump phenomena will see it with glaring clarity as they continue their blind pursuit toward a robotic workplace. When Americans have finally had enough.
How this will translate in the Global arena remains to be seen. The robotic and technological revolution that is underway is international. How do you stabilize when economies evolve too far away from the survival and happiness of the people? The rich have seen to it that oversight and regulation is viewed as intrusion. This gave them free reign to do as they pleased. Removing the hideous complex impediments and ordering the rich to return their money from off shore would be a great start. We are really desperate for crisis think tanks on each vital issue with the authority to implement findings. We are now victims of the power of neglected and highly advanced momentum. If we do not redesign our approach in matters of human equality and well-being the future of humankind will be fraught with upheaval. No fail safes. Just ongoing neglect of realities with no heroes, no fighters, no patriotism, no majesty to save us. We are just tumbling to the bottom of the Mountain. Still I search for America, with the heart of a sleeping Phoenix to find a way to restore. Hope should have an avenue.
