The sun is out and now you’re feeling the wrath of forgetting to wear sunscreen. After spending the winter all covered up, it’s easy to forget that you actually need to apply SPF when you’re out and about. It used to be such a hassle to slather yourself in sunscreen before you went out. You’d smell weird and feel greasy or sticky all day. Now, there are quite a few products that won’t subject you to spraying yourself down with sport-level SPF like you used to when you went to the beach.
1. Find Beauty Products with Added SPF
When it comes to applying sunscreen, the last thing you want to do it put it all over your face before or after you put your makeup on. You might as well not wear makeup at all because you know it’s going to get ruined. Instead, try using beauty products that already have SPF in them. My daily face moisturizer has SPF15 and my primer has added SPF as well. Make sure you apply them all over your face so you don’t get burnt in random spots, then you can just worry about protecting the rest of your body.
2. Grab a Floppy Hat
You may not think about it, but your scalp can get sunburn too. Plus, even though you’ve already got SPF on your face, you still want to protect it as best you can. Grab a floppy hat that works with your outfit. They look super trendy so you’ll impress all of your friends, while in reality you’re just being smart and protecting yourself from those harmful UV rays.
3. Invest in Some Sun Protective Clothing
Yes, sun protective clothing is a thing. Brands like Coolibar and Athleta have workout clothes and swim suits that are cute and practical for hot summer days. You won’t have to worry so much about reapplying, especially if you’re outside working out or chilling with friends. Just make sure you’re still wearing sunscreen on the parts of your body that aren’t covered.
4. Find Your Perfect Pair of Shades
The skin around your eyes in the most sensitive part of your skin, and it’s also probably not the first place you’d think to apply sunscreen. You don’t want to get it in your eyes anyway. So it’s best to opt for a pair of UV protective sunglasses. You can get tons of different styles with cool frames or colored lenses. Just make sure they are designed to block UV rays or else you won’t get the protection your delicate eyes need.
Even if you apply sunscreen with a high SPF, you still need to reapply every few hours, especially if you’re swimming or sweating. Make sure you find a sunscreen to keep with you at all times that doesn’t smell or feel gross when you’re out and about. Sometimes the cheaper brands at the drugstore aren’t the best, so investing in something like the La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Suncreen Fluid is the best bet. It’s weightless and doesn’t feel like you’ve just greased yourself up.
