Euclid Restaurant

There are some restaurants you go to for convenience, and then there are restaurants you go to because they feel like a second home. The Euclid Restaurant, at 4285 State Route 31 in Clay, is the latter: a place where history meets hospitality and where a meal is so much more than just food on a plate. Open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner during the summer months and opening on Sundays on September 7, The Euclid has become a destination for families, couples, and groups of friends looking to enjoy not only great food but also genuine warmth. You can call them at (315) 622-2750 to make a reservation or place an order, and their website at www.euclidrestaurant.com is always up to date with hours, menus, and specials.

The Euclid’s story stretches back more than two centuries, making it one of the oldest and most beloved landmarks in Central New York. First established in 1817, the building began as a simple tavern and gathering place before evolving into the full-service restaurant it is today. While the menu and decor have changed with the times, its heart has always remained the same: a welcoming space where neighbors, travelers, and families can come together to share a good meal and lasting memories. When we visited on a bright Wednesday with our children, we were instantly struck by the charm of the building and the energy inside. The restaurant manages to feel both timeless and alive, a gathering spot that has seen generations pass through its doors yet still feels fresh and welcoming, especially after the recent remodel! Adding to that atmosphere was our server, Heather, who made the night unforgettable. From the moment she greeted us, she was attentive and kind, anticipating what we needed before we had to ask and taking the time to make our kids feel just as valued as the adults at the table. Friendly, patient, and clearly proud of where she works, Heather brought a personal touch to our visit that made everything taste just a little bit better!

We started our evening with their chicken wing dip and chips, which quickly became the kind of appetizer you know you’ll order every time you come back. Hot, creamy, perfectly spiced, and served with crunchy chips sturdy enough to handle every bite, it set the stage for the meal beautifully. Even our soon to be 4 year old son enjoyed this dish! Our children chose their dinners from the Kiddie Korner menu, which is thoughtfully priced and filled with choices that never feel like an afterthought. Johnny’s spaghetti and meatball came piled high, with a rich sauce that coated every noodle and a meatball so large and flavorful it could have nearly been a meal on its own. Maggie chose the cheeseburger, (well, she actually ordered a bam-burger because that’s what she calls them but Heather gladly played along!) which was juicy and cooked perfectly, paired with crisp fries and a side of vegetables that made her plate as balanced as it was delicious. Both kids finished their meals with smiles, which is perhaps the best endorsement a family restaurant can receive!

For my dinner, I went with the broiled scallops, and, as always, they were nothing short of spectacular. Tender and perfectly seasoned, they had that sweet ocean flavor that only comes from scallops prepared with care. A fresh salad topped with a combination of Italian dressing and crumbly blue cheese gave a sharp contrast to the richness of the seafood, while a generous serving of fries offered that satisfying comfort food crunch. Across the table, Kyle tackled the cattlemen’s cut prime rib, a towering 24-ounce portion that lived up to its name. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it was the kind of dish that makes you pause after the first bite to savor just how good it is. Paired with ranch-dressed salad and another serving of crispy fries, it was as hearty and satisfying a meal as you could ask for. We love that the seafood is always unbeatable and that you can get prime rib every single day! We couldn’t leave without dessert, and the lemon meringue pie sealed the deal. Light, fluffy meringue crowned a bright and tangy lemon filling, all resting on a buttery crust that held everything together. It was refreshing, sweet, and the perfect way to end a meal that had been indulgent from start to finish. Sharing that slice between us, it felt like the exclamation point on an evening that already had exceeded every expectation!

In addition to the wonderful dining room experience, The Euclid also offers excellent options for catering and private events. For more intimate gatherings or business meetings, they have a cozy banquet room that accommodates up to 35 people, providing just the right atmosphere for smaller groups. For larger celebrations, reunions, or corporate events, The Euclid also has a spacious banquet room that can comfortably host up to 100 guests. Combined with their reputation for generous portions and delicious food, these spaces make The Euclid an ideal choice for everything from family parties to professional functions.

What makes The Euclid special is the way it combines history, heart, and honest cooking. Every dish felt crafted with care, every portion was generous, and every interaction with the staff reinforced that this is a restaurant built on pride and community. The staff at The Euclid embody what makes the place shine: genuine service that turns a good meal into a lasting memory. For us, The Euclid wasn’t just another dinner out; it was a reminder of how dining together can be joyful, comforting, and even a little magical. Whether you’re a longtime local or just passing through Clay, this is a restaurant you owe it to yourself to experience!
