The Clam Bar

The Clam Bar has become one of the hidden gems of central New York. With great service, specials and seafood, you are sure to have an unbeatable time at the biggest little place in Syracuse. If you are looking for great food and a fun, family atmosphere then look no further than The Clam Bar conveniently located at 3914 Brewerton Road in North Syracuse. They serve lunch and dinner daily and are open Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 10 pm, Friday from 11 am to 11 pm, Saturday from 11:30 am to 11 pm and on Sunday from noon to 9 pm. Do not let the tiny looks of the Clam Bar deceive you, it may seem small but it is jam packed with great food and great times!

Although the Clam Bar is known for their great selection of seafood, they are so much more than just a great seafood place with an extensive menu and always changing daily specials, they certainly have something for everyone! They do have the best seafood in town including the cleanest and freshest steamed clams and they make a legendary bowl of New England clam chowder. They have a great selection of clams and mussels. They have a huge assortment of seafood entrees ranging from Blackened Grouper, charbroiled swordfish, and unbeatable haddock to crab cakes dinner, sautéed sea scallops and the ultimate twin lobster tail dinner. Because they serve up only the best and freshest seafood the Clam Bar really goes all out with their seafood and pasta dishes. You can’t go wrong with their Cioppino (Shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels simmered in homemade marinara sauce), Seafood Alfredo (Shrimp, scallops, & blue crab meat) and Red or White Clam Sauce (Loaded with chopped and fresh clams). The Clam Bar also offers a variety of options for those that aren’t wild about seafood. They have fantastic steaks, delicious chicken dishes, and even a tadpoles menu for the little one! If you can’t decide if you want your meal to come from land or sea you just have to check out their surf and turf selections. You can add a little “surf,” like fried oyster, shrimp scampi, broiled scallops, crab cakes, crab legs or even a lobster tail to any steak dinner!

Kyle and I arrived at the Clam Bar on a busy Saturday night. As always, the place was hopping, and you couldn’t help but smell the awesomeness wafting out of the kitchen! We were quickly seated in a cozy both, perfect for two, and greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable server, Traci. We looked over the specials card that was placed on our table, and Traci told us that their specials changed daily and depended on what they could get fresh. She also made some suggestions about her favorites so we took her advice and placed our orders. We decided to begin with an order of the Clam Bar Wings (an awesome mix of secret seasoning  that we are told is brought over from Germany) these wings are exclusively served at The Clam Bar and are indescribably good. No trip to the Clam Bar is complete without an order of these fantastic wings! After we devoured the wings, I was served a fresh and delicious salad and Kyle had a cup of what he called “the BEST clam chowder he had ever had.” I had a bite of that as well, and of course, I agreed. Nothing beats the Clam Bar’s Clam Chowder. For our entrees, Kyle ordered the Blue Crab Stuffed Sole topped with Béarnaise sauce. This dish was a unique mix of flavors and textures that were perfectly complimented by the heaping side of onion rings. Kyle enjoyed every single bite! For my entrée I ordered the Broiled Platter Haddock, Shrimp, Sea Scallops and Clams with a side of the Clam Bar’s very own coleslaw. You can never go wrong with a gigantic portion of seafood especially with steamed littlenecks and tender scallops. The dish was also presented beautifully on the plate, almost too good to eat, except we managed to get past that!

We were full but we had heard rave reviews about Christa’s homemade chocolate cake and knew we just had to try some. This homemade chocolate cake was moist and light, chocolaty with a flawless layer of whipped cream on top and the perfect way to end a fantastic meal!
