The Speach Family Candy Shoppe has been family owned and operated for 4 generations and they are proudly celebrating 95 years of making the best chocolate in town.
When you walk into Speach’s you will immediately be over come with the feeling that you are, in fact, a kid in a candy shop. They have display of truffles and other confections , shelves overflowing with colorful candy, and even an entire display of nostalgic candy that you may not have seen in decades! They have a huge selection of hand-made chocolates including chocolate covered potato chips (milk, dark, and peanut butter, made with special potato chips from made just for them by local favorite Terrell’s potato chip company), chocolate covered pretzels, butter & cream fudge, Sue’s famous chocolate truffles and even Top Shelf Truffles (made with real liquor and spirits). At Speach’s they love to chocolate cover everything and you can find chocolate covered marshmallows, Twinkie, Twizzlers, and Oreos. They also have a great selection of turtles; choose from almond, cashews, macadamia nuts, and pecans. At Speach’s you can find chocolates you can’t find anywhere else… Brickle! Their chocolate brickle comes in 50 different flavors with a combination of crowd favorites and seasonal specialties. Some of the brickle flavors are: caramel pretzels, chocolate with a sea, cocoa nut, how do you take yours (coffee), and even health nut! What is the recipe for a candy shop make stay open for business for nearly a century? Well it is one part superior product (made with high quality ingredients and secret family recipes). It is one part hard work and determination of a family that is so sweet they may also be part candy! And lastly it is one part support from an awesome community. The Speach family knows they couldn’t have done this without you so in consideration of their 95th anniversary they have started a campaign called “Buy to Benefit” where 5% of their profit will be given to support five local charities throughout the summer. In May they will be supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which will align with the CFF Great Strides Walk. In June, your purchases will be used to support ACR Health and will align with the AIDS Walk/ Run during that month. In July they will be supporting Hope for Heather to raise awareness for Ovarian Canc
er, a foundation created in memory of a high school friend of Michael Speach. In August sales will go to support Maureen’s Hope, a foundation that helps the community in a variety of ways and is instrumental in making kids smile at Golisano Children Hospital. Lastly, in September they will be donating to the Alzheimer’s Association leading up to their big fundraising walk in October. The Speech Family knows they wouldn’t be here without so much local support and this is their way to give a little something back. Stop in and help them help out some great causes!
