We arrived at Sweet Basil on a sunny April evening. We noted that the ride was very pretty and the restaurant was easy to find, right off of the Tully exit on 81. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated in a comfy booth. We decided to start our meal with an order of deep fried ravioli; they were breaded, lightly fried, and stuffed with a delicious Italian cheese mixture. The fried ravioli was paired perfectly with the warm marinara sauce. For an entrée I decided on the Shrimp Riggies, a huge portion of rigatoni, giant shrimp, mushrooms, peppers, and onions in Sweet Basil’s very own secret sauce. The portions were enough for lunch and the secret sauce was right on! Sara decided one of the specials, a porterhouse steak served with a side of French fries. Her medium rare porterhouse was cooked to perfection and could have been cut with a butter knife because it was so tender. Although we were both stuffed we couldn’t pass up a slice of white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, or as we liked to call it, heaven.
