The best reason to come to Danzer’s is because you love authentic German Cuisine. The second best reason to come to Danzer’s is because you’ve never had authentic German Cuisine and you want to find out what you have been missing all along! At Danzer’s they offer a huge selection of German cuisine including Sauerbraten (eye of round, marinated in their own authentic homemade sauerbraten sauce, served in its own gravy with buttered egg noodles and red cabbage) Beef Rouladen (Choice top round – rolled with onion, bacon and parsley stuffing , lightly sautéed, then braised in a delicately flavored burgundy sauce and served with buttered noodles and red cabbage) Wiener Schnitzel (Thinly sliced leg of veal, dipped in egg and bread crumbs, then pan fried in butter and served with fresh lemon, hot German potato salad and vegetable du jour) Chicken Schnitzel (Boneless breast of chicken, dipped in egg and bread crumbs, then pan fried in butter and served with fresh lemon, hot German potato salad and vegetable du jour)april2015-dine-bar Jager Schnitzel (Thinly sliced leg of veal, sautéed with fresh mushrooms and parsley in a light cream sauce laced with wine and served with rice and vegetable du jour) SCHNÄTZELI (Bite-sized liver sautéed in butter with diced green peppers, onions and tomatoes and served with house potatoes and its own brown gravy). They also offer some great specialty sampler platters so that you can get a great idea of different German dishes. These specialties include the German Frankfurter Platter (Three German franks, served with their homemade hot German potato salad and homemade sauerkraut) and the Bavarian Sampler (One each frankfurter, bratwurst and knackwurst, served hot and steaming with their own hot German potato salad and homemade sauerkraut). Danzer’s also has a large selection of American cuisine, including hot and cold sandwiches, salads, seafood and burgers. If you are not interested in the authentic cuisine let me suggest the Danzerburger Platter (A big 8 ounce burger topped with lettuce and tomato, served with onion rings and thin-cut home fried chips), the Cheddar Bacon Danzerburger Platter (served with lettuce, tomato and fresh, thin-cut home fried chips) or the Original Hamlet (Danzer’s famous grilled sandwich of ham, coleslaw, bacon, tomato and Swiss cheese).april2015-dine-booth

I arrived at Danzer’s with my friend Kylee on a chilly march evening. We were immediately greeted by the friendly hosts and shown to our cozy booth. We were both in the mood for some hearty German cuisine on this particular evening. We initially noticed the charming Bavarian décor and we talked about how nice it would to be on vacation somewhere in the Black Forest instead of in Syracuse during this never ending winter! We decided to begin our meal with German Potato Pancakes, fresh grated potatoes with just a touch of onion, pan fried to crisp perfection and served with apple sauce or sour cream. They were crispy and delicious. For an entrée Kylee decided on one their best sellers, the Big Reuben with lean corned beef, hot sauerkraut, Russian dressing and Swiss cheese, piled on rye bread and grilled open faced and a side of delicious fries. I was feeling a bit more adventurous and ordered the Pan-Fried Liver which was sliceapril2015-dine-greend liver, pan fried with onion, bacon and green peppers and served with gravy and house potatoes. Both of our entrees did not disappoint and totally hit the spot!

At Danzer’s you can always expect to have an authentic meal and a charming, homey atmosphere. Stop by today for a dining experience you won’t soon forget!
